Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Slate. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Slate with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. We may ask for age information and block or delete accounts that do not meet this requirement. Child sexual abuse and exploitation is prohibited. See our Child Safety Standards.

2. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You may delete your account at any time from our delete account page.

3. Acceptable use

You may use Slate only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms and our Community Guidelines. You agree not to misuse the service, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, scrape or harvest data in abusive ways, or use Slate to distribute malware or spam.

4. Content you post

You retain ownership of content you create on Slate (such as reviews, posts, lists, comments, and profile information). By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to operate and improve Slate.

You are responsible for your content. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share. Uploaded images (including avatars and post images) may be compressed and scanned for prohibited content before they are published.

5. Prohibited content

You may not post or upload content that includes:

• Sexual, nude, or pornographic imagery
• Harassment, hate, threats, or targeted abuse
• Spam, scams, or deceptive engagement tactics
• Copyright infringement or piracy
• Impersonation of another person or brand
• Illegal content or content that exploits or endangers minors

More detail is in our Community Guidelines. We may reject uploads, remove content, limit features, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Film and TV metadata

Film and TV information shown in Slate may come from third-party providers (such as TMDB). That metadata is provided for discovery and social features and is not endorsed by those providers unless stated otherwise.

7. Enforcement

We review user reports of objectionable content within 24 hours. When a report is upheld, we remove the content and restrict or ban the account that posted it. We may also investigate reports and take other action we believe is appropriate, including limiting features or terminating access. We are not obligated to monitor all content, but we may use automated tools and human review to help enforce these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

Slate is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Slate and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the service.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Slate after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
